Does Ozonos help against Corona-Virus?
The corona virus presents science with many challenges and unanswered questions. What is certain, however, is that the novel COVID-19 shows great similarities to the Sars virus that occurred in 2002. Even then, ozone was successfully used against the viruses. Its cleaning and disinfecting effect is undisputed.
WHY DOES OZONE DESTROY Germs, Bacteria and Viruses?
In ozone O3, the third oxygen atom is only weakly bound to the other two. It therefore separates easily to combine with other substances. The weakly bound oxygen atom O is released to the molecule (oxidation). As a rule, the partner molecule disintegrates or changes its properties in this reaction. The rest of the ozone, i.e. molecular oxygen 02, remains as normal atmospheric oxygen.
In the outer skin of germs, bacteria or fungi (cell membrane), viruses (capsid), spores (sporoderm) but also on the surface of many allergens (house dust mite droppings, animal hair), a lot of proteins (= proteins, especially large molecules) are built in. Ozone likes to react with these proteins, destroying them. In the case of living organisms such as bacteria, viruses or fungi, a hole is created in the outer shell. This usually leads to the death or bursting of the cell.
However, we would like to point out that the OZONOS products mainly remove viruses from the air and are only suitable for surface cleaning to a limited extent. Make sure to wash and disinfect your hands regularly.
